From Merthyr to the Med: Gomer author taking stories from Wales to Malta

Gomer are delighted to announce that Merthyr Tydfil based author, Karla Brading, has been booked for a short series of book events on the Mediterranean islands of Malta and Gozo from the 4th to the 6th of April 2019.

She will be visiting the capital cities of Valetta and Victoria, as well as the town of Sliema, to sign copies of her two Gomer Young-Adult novels The Valley of Whispers (2016) and The Inn of Waking Shadows (2018).

Karla is best known for her unique mix of traditional Welsh ghost stories and complex themes, including bullying, loss and death, and is not afraid to introduce difficult subject matter to her readership.

“We’re very excited that one of our authors has been invited out to the Mediterranean,” said Meirion Davies, Head of Publishing at Gomer. “It will be a great opportunity to share the cultures of our two small nations, and take the dark and ghostly aspects of Wales to warmer and sunnier climes.”

"Malta is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I feel privileged to be able to take my children's novels and my journey to its door,” added Karla. “This is going to be a simply magical adventure; one I can't wait to share with you all. So let's bring on the books!"

Gomer is also organising a series of school visits in South East Wales with Karla, as well as a special event in Abergavenny later this spring.
