Under their direction, what had become a grass-grown path between Corris and Maes-poeth in 1948, became once again a well-laid 2"-3" gauge line, transporting passengers in carriages virtually identical to the originals, which had disappeared in 1930. Much has been achieved in the intervening years but fascinating challenges remain, affecting the infrastructure as well as the rolling-stock.
The Corris Railway Society's expertise in constructing carriages 'in-house', for example is most impressive and although the new locomotive may well be constructed by specialists manufacturers, the society has demonstrated its ability to maintain and service a steam engine most efficiently.
Time and funds have been devoted to establishing a firm foundation for such developments, and the society has created a friendly atmosphere and comfortable working conditions for volunteers. long may success continue.
