About Us

Gomer Press is a printing and publishing company based in Llandysul, west Wales. The company was first established in 1892 and is owned by the same family to this day. Jonathan Lewis, the great grandson of the company's founder, is the current managing director. Gomer Press today is both a thriving printing company and the largest publishing house in Wales.

Every year, we publish over 120 titles, specializing in books which have a distinctive Welsh identity. We have four distinct lists:

English books for adults

Gomer’s English-language books continue to be characterized by their Welsh dimension and their willingness to engage with the world at large. Our wide-ranging list features history, biography, travel writing, visual arts, fiction and poetry titles, as well as handsome publications combining literature and landscape photography of the highest quality. The enviable production values of such books are also applied to our sports titles, as demonstrated by our range of rugby bestsellers. Our authors include Trevor Fishlock, Jim Perrin, Jon Gower, Gillian Clarke, Nigel Jenkins, Mererid Hopwood, Matthew Rhys and Eddie Butler.

English books for children (Pont Books imprint)

Pont Books is the imprint designed to produce English titles – picture books, novels, poems and plays – for readers aged 3-15. The logo depicts our aim to build bridges between all the young people of Wales, whatever their background, wherever they live and whichever languages they speak. All our books are written in English, but there is always a strong Welsh connection or background. Pont has won many awards, and praise from reviewers in The Times Educational Supplement and Books for Keeps, as well as Gwales. Our list provides invaluable resources for the Curriculum Cymreig, taught in all schools in Wales.
