BOOKS FOR ADULTS : POETRY
TROSIADAU/TRANSLATIONS: WALESLAND/GWALIADIR
by
Caryl Lewis
and
Nigel Wells
Language: : Bilingual

Walesland is a poetic exploration of Welsh history. It is not a text book. It is not a propagandist's pamphlet. Neither is it surrounded by the clich?d, atmospheric mists of magic and myth. And although many of the great figures of Wales's past are featured - from St David to Saunders Lewis - it is not their story, but the lot of the common people that is most apparent in these poems, whether they be the hapless victims, the ardent followers or the indifferent bystanders. Between each of the ten major poems, there are nine single-stanza 'threads' which remind us of the land's presence, both passive and active, in the unfolding events of Wales from pre-history to the present day..
