MAGIC HARBOURS
by
Jamie Owen
Language: : English
| |
A harbour at sunset, when the last boat has safely reached its moorings, is an immensely satisfying, often magical sight. Round the coast of Wales, you will find a huge variety of harbours: picturesque inlets, great havens, busy ports and ancient quays.
Jamie Owen left the newsroom behind one beautiful summer's day and began a voyage around the coast of Wales, meeting the people who live and work by the sea. In a hundred-year-old sailing ship, Mascotte, he and the crew sailed around stunning coastline, negotiating sandbars, notorious currents, lighthouses, buoys - as well as other vessels.
The whole adventure is shown in the BBC Wales television series Magic Harbours. This book is the diary of the voyage, complemented by Martin Cavaney's glorious photography – a celebration of a beautiful country and its dramatic coastline..
